A Must-See Destination
Belfast is a new and exciting destination which is increasingly making it onto the world’s must see list. Voted as one of the world’s Top 10 destinations in 2012, The National Geographic Traveller called the city a "treasure".
"It was great, the food, the incredible atmosphere and don't take this wrong - in many ways it reminded me of Cuba, what it was like there seven or eight years ago. I felt that this place was a treasure that had sort of been preserved, it hadn't been trampled on by the big foot of tourism and so I really loved its purity. You look at where the energy spots are in the world and this is Belfast's time."
“Get here early and enjoy it before the rest of the world arrives.”
The Financial Times (FT) has listed Belfast as one of the 'Top 10 places in the world' to hold a conference or major event. The FT says significant investment in Belfast's tourism, accommodation and transportation infrastructure secured the position as an international conference and events hub, putting us up there with Melbourne, London, Barcelona and Guadalajara.
“The scale, the panache was there, we’re back this year it says something.”

‘We were delighted with how close everything was which made the event run so smoothly. Our contact at Visit Belfast understood exactly what we needed and accommodated our needs all the way, providing a professional, friendly and caring service. We were thrilled with our time in Belfast’

“When choosing an international conference destination for our attendees, we look for cities with the right balance of tourist attraction and convenience - Belfast had just that and more, The Emerald Isle of Ireland as a whole is beautiful, and Belfast is no different with amazing sights like Giant’s Causeway. Beyond that though, the city had the added attraction to our attendees of being off the beaten path, with attractions such as the Titanic Museum and Game of Thrones, yet easily accessible.
The element that really puts Belfast over the top as a conference destination though is the people. From the cab drivers, to the Waterfront staff, to the Visit Belfast staff themselves, our experience planning an overseas conference from the States was phenomenal. There can be a lot of challenges planning a conference in a city that you’ve only been to a few times yourself, but we could always count on the Visit Belfast staff to answer questions and give advice from the local perspective. Their support was extraordinary and truly appreciated. And of course we were just in love with the locals, who were so friendly that they made our international attendees feel right at home.
We would absolutely recommend Belfast as a professional conference destination, especially for international conferences looking for that added support that we found in Belfast. Cur thanks go to the Visit Belfast team for a wonderful experience”
