Passport and visa information
For UK nationals a passport is not strictly necessary but photographic identification is required. Check with your airline/ferry company as requirements vary. Other nationals - a valid passport or national identity card is required. (Passports are not required for travel between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland). Citizens from Europe and most other western countries – visas are not usually required.

Getting to and from our airports
George Best Belfast City Airport is situated just three miles east of the city centre. A taxi costs just £10 and there’s also a shuttle bus service to the city centre every 20 minutes at £3.80 return. Belfast International Airport is 30 minutes drive via the M2 Motorway. The Airbus service runs every 15 minutes between the Airport and Belfast city centre (£10.50 return) and a taxi costs £25.
Belfast weather is relatively mild even in the winter with average temperatures ranging from 19ºC in the summer to 2ºC in the winter. Like most UK cities, the weather can be changeable so always best to be prepared and pack your umbrella and layers should you need them.
The international dialling code for Northern Ireland is 00 44 28 and the area code for Belfast is 90. The number for the emergency services is 999 and this will connect you to the police, fire, ambulance, lifeboat and mountain rescue services. Directory enquiries can be accessed by calling 118 500 or you can use online services for free such as Yell.com to search for contact details of local businesses and amenities.

The currency used in Northern Ireland is sterling but some shops do except euro. Most banks are open on 9am-5pm Monday to Friday and all major credit and debit cards are widely accepted throughout the city.
