Food and Drink Events 2019


Every year Belfast and Northern Ireland celebrate the fruits of the sea and land, and the many and varied foodstuffs that we enjoy from our talented producers; 2019 is shaping up to be feast of festivals, events and activities each showcasing a unique aspect of that which makes NI the capital of flavour that it is: Food & Drink.


Belfast Mela

Belfast Mela is the city’s annual celebration of global cultures where tens of thousands of visitors come together to celebrate our people and diversity. The Mela transforms the park into a magical global garden filled with the sights, sounds and aromas of the world. Music, dance, arts and culture come together to create a heady, good-humoured atmosphere which invites the world into the heart of our city.


Echlinville Tours & Tastings

Echlinville Tours offer a real insight into the workings of Northern Ireland's first licenced distillery in over 125 years. Guests will be personally welcomed and guided through the process, from the barley arriving from the fields, through to the maturation warehouse where the Angels are certainly enjoying their share. All tours finish with a few drams of exquisite spirit.


Gin Tasting at James Street

Join James St in the Grill Room and explore all that is botanical with a range of world famous gins paired with an expertly designed meal. The evening includes the tasting of five gins along with four delicious courses from the kitchen. The team will be on hand to talk you through the botanicals of the gins and the garnishes which complement them.


Hilden Beer Festival

Ireland’s longest running annual beer & music festival at Hilden Brewery will return on the August Bank Holiday Weekend 2019. Now celebrating its 37th year and located at Ireland's oldest independent brewery, the festival showcases the finest collection of music, complemented by the wide range of local ales, beers and spirits available across the weekend. This year is set to be bigger than ever with more acts, more stages and a host of family-friendly activities for children of all ages to enjoy. 


Hillsborough Castle & Gardens Food Festival

Become part of the first ever Food Festival in the grounds of Hillsborough Castle and Gardens this summer. Enjoy a majestic day out exploring 100 acres of beautiful gardens and pick up some fabulous local food and drink. There will also be live cookery demonstrations from celebrity chefs, workshops and great entertainment for all.


Moira Food Tour

Enjoy an indulgent food tour in the area surrounding Moira; you’ll be astounded by the quality of the food produced in this neck of the woods. You’ll explore orchards and distilleries and sample locally baked breads with lots of unique treats along the way.


Shortcross Gin Evening

Enjoy four blended Shortcross Gin cocktails paired with a four course tasting menu. Learn about the Shortcross Gin from the experts! Join The Old Inn for a fantastic evening of Gin and Food hosted by Shortcross Gin.
